Title: Ozma - Rolodex Propaganda
Post by: Signumark on February 02, 2005, 01:48:32 pm
I was driving home from work today, and I was listening to At the Drive-In's Relationship of Command and I had this moment of clarity where I realised that Ozma could have either written that song themselves, or at least could have made a great cover.

It's got the the dual guitars, dual vocals, prominent keyboards, spacey sound effects,  a breakdown in the middle where Ryen could go for his solo.  And bass and drums.

I've listened to it a few times since I got home, and it seems more obvious every time I hear it.  Apart from how distinctive Bixler's voice is, tell me you can't see Dan & Ryen trading the vocals.

Personally, I can see Ryen being the second vocalist in the song ("Manuscript Replica") and Dan being the lead.

But I just get this strong vision of them playing it in my head.  I see them playing it in the Liquid Music set of videos.  Same angle and everything.

Anyway.

Edit: I have to quit drinking at night.  I'm tired of rereading posts and seeing spelling mistakes

Plus, I don't think anyone other than Iggy Pop could be Iggy Pop. Really.

I still think this could work as a cover.

As a previous poster said, yeah..it's way too atonal (intro, verses, ending)

I do, however, can see where some parts would work- specially the little keyboard fill during the dueling guitars in the pre-chorus. The chorus itself is pretty melodic, but I don't think it would work as well with Dan's voice. Itll still be a cool cover though.

that would be a valid point... if it didn't predate your thread by over a month.
