Title: =-O (sound the alarms and let the fun begin!)
Post by: Sandguy on January 09, 2006, 12:32:38 pm
WE: Star Wick, Ryen Slegr, Jose Galvez, and Daniel Brummel, do hereby declare our full and true intention to reform, reunite, and otherwise reanimate the rock group OZMA. Manning the drum kit for this incarnation of OZMA will be Kenn Shane, formerly of Addison. After rehearsing and working on new material since September 2005, we will play our first reunited concert on Sunday, March 12th 2006 at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood, CA. Tickets to this concert will be made available on January 14th, 2006. Announcements regarding future OZMA releases and tours will henceforth be made at our official website OzmaOnline.com.

The site earlier said $12/$14, which I'm pretty sure means $12 advance, $14 day of show.

I mean, it's an Ozma concert, not U2 or anything.

So do we have anymore "official" information about this show?

Mainly I'm wondering about other acts.  I assume Ozma is headlining, but anyone have any other info--or guesses--of who else will be playing?

just noticed:

"Star Wick, Ryen Slegr, Jose Galvez, and Daniel Brummel"
"Ryen, Daniel, Star, Kenn & Jose"

Interesting orders to put the names in.Ã,  The first one can be justified by reverse-abc-order, but the second?Ã,  I dunno.Ã,  I'd think with such an official announcement, there would be more of a formula to it.Ã,  Seems like whoever typed it just forgot all about Jose until the very end-- or it was Jose who typed it, and was trying to be polite.

Okay, clearly I shouldn't be on the internet anymore.Ã,  Sorry.

I didn't check the site, but surely the online sale isn't just for two days, two months in advance of the show.  That just doesn't make sense.  I'm sure they'll go back on sale online later.  Maybe closer to the show.

All of the above to bring back Ozma: God just knows what ROCKS!!

I bought a few extra tickets for my people back in Ohio (I, Brian, am in Pasadena now). There's a good chance all will not be able to make it to the show. If there's any diehard Ozma fans at the Knitting Factory the day of the show - I would love to play Santa and give whatever I may be able to give. I just do not know what that is. But! Hope is better than nothing so good cheers to all.

Also - anyone know if Ozma is playing BEFORE the "reunion show." I'm pretty sure they played lsometime recently, for some kid in my class said he wrote an article about "the band that played after them." I've written for newspapers before, so disinformation naturally is something that bothers me. Any clarity would be much appreciated.

Much love,
Brian.

please note the 3/11/06 show is not the official back together show.  it's more of a warm up.  just so you all don't feel dissapointed.

Basically, they played a show at the Troubadour in Hollywood last December, opening for the Wrens.  Announcements, tickets, and the band the night of called the group Irregardless, venue's marquee said Ozma.  Probably what you're thinking of.

I.e., the KF had already printed out "OZMA REUNION SHOW OMG!1!" tickets before Soma was booked? ;)

Sarah's probably gonna hate me for not being able to take more time off....

I'll prolly bring my dig. camera, i.e. video capabilities, which actually has good quality, but I remember when I taped Yes Dear's show, the place was so small, the loud sound made the audio not so great, but the video was impeccable.

Anyways, I'll probably do that.

we should invent some sort of recording device/bra so that you can boot shows without getting caught.

Bob is recording, even though he did have a dream last night that he was booting the show and some dude from the venue like, interrupted the whole show to be like "YOURE RECORDING OMG YOU CANT DO THAT STOP THE SHOW!"

He confirmed that he would still be doing so, despite this.

Hey, I am going to this show, but I have never been to the Key Club, and was wondering what the size of the venue is like? Is it compared to any of the other venues I have been to, which include, The Glass House, The Vault, The El Rey, The Troubador, The Wiltern, and the Chain Reaction. ANything Like any of those? Thanks.

i seen yes dear at the knitting factory (side stage) and it wasnt very big compared to the troubadour or the wiltern, those are the only other two ive been in. but i think they are going to be in the main stage and ive never been in it.

Key Club is nice. Free. Well, at least on Tuesdays or whatever day it is..Ruby Tuesdays I think it's called.
Anyways..It's about as big as the Glass house, with like couches on the side and a balcony, and a bar at the entrance, and downstairs bathrooms with black lights...Purple pee(orso I've heard :P)  Don't sit on the couches on the left, all you hear is bass. Terrible.  Anyways..pretty similar to Pomona though
