Yes Dear will be performing live and on KSCR Radio from USC Wed. Feb 9 at 1PM.
If you are around the USC campus area in Los Angeles you can tune in at
1560AM, or you can check it out online at kscr.org.

Ooh.  I should check this out and see if I could get in or something.  And I should warn people, KSCR's site has been inconsistent in the past(at least for streaming), but I haven't listened to it in a while.  And for those around USC, the AM station really has no coverage whatsoever, so online is your best bet.

Bob511

Oh cool, 128kbps Shoutcast stream.

so are you going to try and record it?

Bob511

I figure I'll try both methods this time: run StreamRipper on the Shoutcast stream and run CoolEdit capping from the wavetable in the background.  If all works out, the former will be ideal, but given what happened with the server hiccup last time and what Patrick said about this server, I figure both would be a safe idea.

Not that it would hurt to have other people recording if they're listening, in case some other problem comes up.

Not Jason

yeah, it would probably be a good idea for me to give it a shot too.  my memory tends to be absolute shit though, in the case of the daniel brummel show i ended up forgetting about it entirely til it was half over, so hopefully that won't happen again this time and i can get a backup cooledit recording in case yours goes wrong for any reason.

Shit, fifteen minutes from the interview/performance and this middling new Ted Leo song makes me really want to put on Hearts of Oak:-[

So did someone record it?  I got home and rushed and record everything from surf the intensity to the end.  Did they play any new songs that we haven't heard that are supposedly going to be sent to the members soon or whatever?

edit- its not done yet i guess?

Not Jason

i got the entire set recorded well except it burped on me near the end of antidote, so if you recorded it bob, let's hope you got that one at least.  if you have a recording of antidote with problems with it, if they are different problems its still theoretically possible i could seemlessly patch them together to make a good version... if all else fails that is.   i started a new track for anything else that they're gonna do, that's running now.

I still have a wavetable recording running through this interview (obviously I'll chop out those intervening non-Yes Dear songs).  Haven't seen how the Shoutcast rip turned out, but we'll see; either way, I think I have the whole thing, but keep that recording around in case my computer explodes or something.

funwithsponges

I heard the burp in Antidote as well, Jason, so I think maybe it was just a streaming issue.

Anyone think the girl is kind of a poor interviewer? Ã, She seems nervous, and like she doesn't know how to handle the guys' responses/humor.

Bob511

So was that the end of the interview?  Did I miss the "Goodbye, thanks for coming"?

yeah, it might have been, but i figured I'd suggest the posibility to the contrary.

i dunno, she wasn't THAT bad.  I don't really like any interviewers I ever hear though.  also, my interview track burped around the time they were giving the net address.

So now I gotta figure out hosting for thirty-five megabytes.  I wonder if I can clean up that much space from my school account.

In the meantime, maybe I'll YouSendIt the tracks, and let people grab them until those go down.

www.umit.maine.edu/~jason.unterreiner/music/Yes Dear - 03 - Track 03.mp3

help yourself, but do it quick before i take this down.  I can only fit one song at a time and even that's stretching it.  198 for these things is obviously a bit overboard, but it is my default setting and i didn't feel like changing it.  i've never heard this song before.  does anyone know what it's called?  i love it.

edit:  if somebody could confirm that that link works, i'd appreciate it.  if it's not working for everyone, keep trying, sometimes i doubt my webspace's ability to be accessed by too many people at once.

"Orion," by their lyrics page.  And yeah, your link works.

Ok, I've got seven of the nine tracks I broke the show into up on YouSendIt; I'll finish the last tracks, and then start uploading the whole thing to my school site.  I think the YSI links should last until that finishes.

Just, uh, no one click the second link on the YSI page, please.  Just download the file.

Meanwhile, I'm uploading to my school account in anticipation of those dying.  Let me know if/when they do.

Thanks Bob, really appreciate it.

icecreamman

Yeah I totally agree, he breaks it up perfectly, AND he creates the playlist file.  Bob sure treats his Ozma fans right.

how come it won't work for me?   please help.  :'(

wait, i got them all except the first track.  i hope i didn't accidentally hit the second link.  if i did, i'm sorry.

Bob511

I dunno, all the links still seem to work for me.  I noticed that if you click a bunch before others have finished loading, it seems to get confused as to what file you want, but going one at a time seems to work.

In any case, the last two and a half tracks are transferring to my school account, so that should be available shortly.

kitten

definately thanks bob and jason.  the first link didn't give me anything either.

i believe the first link was the playlist 8)

gracias senors.

these are sounding really good. i'm especially suprised by "orion" because i didn't think i would like nate's songs as much. cool.

Yep.  Dunno why that wouldn't work for some people, link still seems to be good.  Maybe some file association with the browser (e.g. trying to open the .m3u instead of saving it)?

Anyway, for when those above die, the files are now up at http://students.engr.scu.edu/~wbotsch/2005.02.09 KSCR.org/.  As long as the YSI ones last I'd prefer those be used, but I doubt we have the traffic here to really be an issue with my school's host either way.  So whatever, knock yourselves out. ;)

I really dig that demo, "Imaginary Wheels."
