I like reflecting on great moments in my life.

One of the best was seeing Ozma play Iceland at the Knitting Factory last October.  The crowd was jumping along, Jose was rocking the fuck out, Dan was sweaty as ever, and Kenn wasn't wearing a hat.

I moved to Los Angeles in hopes of a moment like that.
i love you guys

Seeing Ozma play without a stage in Wellesley, with Rilo Kiley as the obscure opening act in 2002.  It was at the peak of my Ozma obsession, and it was back before Spending Time came out, so the entire set list was classics, including "Immigration Song" and "Baseball".  Also, Daniel broke a string and had to play the vast majority of the show on a Japanese Squier that I bought from him a couple years later.  It's really cool knowing that the bass I now play regularly was part of one of my all time favorite concert experiences.  Everything about that show was really awesome.

I saw them this summer in Detroit.  My friend and I were pretty much obsessed and the second we get to the venue, Ozma was unloading all of their equipment.  We were literally walking into the bar with members of Ozma.

Oh man... one of the finest would have probably been seeing Dan break 3 strings playing Baseball in DC last summer.  He threw his bass down at the end and everyone was WTFing!  That was incredibly intense --and obviously, being backstage with them at TKF in Hollywood and stuff like that was "awesome Ozma moments" but all that pales in comparison to seeing your favorite Ozma songs totally rocked out in the middle of a show.

These guys fucking own.  And they always will.

I Like Ozma

yeah i think being with my friends at that show in october was probably the greatest.

I saw Ozma with Rilo Kiley in 2002 at a place called The Intersection in Grand Rapids, MI.  Rilo Kiley was pre-coke, and Ozma played the best 12 song set.  They rocked so hard, that the whole city block's power went out during the encore.

my favorite Ozma moment? well, i've only seen them twice, and the first time was opening for the Rentals in August 06. It was when they played the California cover and Matt joined them. I flipped out, i had no clue that was about to happen. #2 was when they played Game Over shortly after that <i think>. Ryen just wailed and pwn'd us all. I had a nice conversation with Daniel after the 2nd show that i saw last Juneish i think? That was pleasant

yeah also possibly my greatest moment could be when they played the "irregardless" show and dan and ryen actually had long conversations, it was really cool, elliott and i must have talked to daniel for at least 15 minutes and for ryen about 10.

When I FINALLY heard them play Bootymaster at the Reunion Show.  Took them a long time, but they finally played my goddamn favorite Ozma song.  I loved it.

In December of 2004, seeing Daniel at a solo folk show in NYC.  Ozma had been broken up since the summer, however afterwards, after requests by me and my friends, Daniel took three of my friends and me outside and played "Wake Up" for us.  That song is so great acoustically.  It was incredible.

Indoor Fireworks

Going to Pat's house after their performance at the Key Club in 2003. The band was smoking weed. They offered me some but I declined. When I thanked Pat for letting us all come over (it was an open invitation to anyone in the audience who felt like going) he said, "Hey, man, want a beer for the road?" To which, I replied, "Nah, but thanks."

My favorite Ozma moment: A stoned Pat asking if I want a beer for the road.
You have balls. I like balls.

Pat could be a pretty cool guy when he wanted to be.  He gave me free merch at least once.

Wow, that is really cool. I mean, that's unbelievably cool. Jeez, i'd love to hear an acoustic version of Wake Up, uh..played exclusively for me and 2 buddies.........

OOH 2nd'd.
(you can thank me for that. :P I helped Kenn get the drums right)
And OMG @ famous Pat party.  Indoor Fireworks, I am eternally (and internally) jealous.

Star and I had this little fling. but we both knew it couldnt last. it was all a strictly physical attraction. I had to let her go...

Once the cops finally managed to tear you off of her? And since then, the closest thing you have to her is that life-sized paper mache version of her that you dress up with all that underwear you were able to buy from Star. Yeah, we've all had those types of experiences with her. Nice girl, that Star.

best ozma moment:
standing outside the bottom of the hill with ryen & my roomate as we shared brownies and pills (vicadin i think). im pretty sure the show was badass too, but all i remember is how good those brownies were.

lamest ozma moment (or one of them):
standing outside the back lot of slims helping my friend puke as i could faintly hear ozma play on the other side of the wall (their north cal reunion show). im at the least happy i had brownies (and cookies) again that time and also got a free sweater (that i think i eventually gave to my ex). but hey. i'll do anything for a good friend.

my best anything moments usually involve food and my worse often involve booze. i should learn from this.

Mine is still when we were at the Green Door in Oklahoma City, and Ryen was really drunk and he sat down at the drums and hit the bass drum while he shredded.  It was definitely good times.
That's Cobra on Cobra action.

Rome

my greatest ozma moment was giving birth to ryen...

Seb

I hate you all. And them, for never being in the UK, ever.

So "best Ozma moment" is probably chatting to Matthew Caws about them when he clocked my t-shirt...
"Just tell me one thing - is this business, or is it personal? Because if it's business, then I'll go away happily. But if it's personal? I'll go away. But I won't be happy."

Hanging out with Dan and Kenn in the van, before the show at the Hawthorne in Portland... I suggested that they play "I wonder" that night and they were up for it. Then I hung out with them some more after the gig and Dan gave me a copy of Speak Easy.

nicest ozma moment, Star telling me not to rebuy STOTB just so they'd autograph it. It was cute, she didn't want me to "have" to buy the album twice. I told her it was my intentions all along, since it's my favorite, i wanted that one autographed. My thick headed freind i was with goes "That's your favorite album of theres........really??" right in front of Star and Ryen. I was like "Shut your mouth woman....".

I saw Daniel Brummel walking down the street in front of the venue they were going to play at in a few hours. I got very excited and felt like a fangirl for the first time in my life ever.

My favorite would have to be when ryen played a really cool lick for alternate dimension at the UCR bell tower.  Here's the link. http://youtube.com/watch?v=P8uxdt1D2_Q.  Thanks to golgo13

I saw the Domino Effect video from that show years ago and really liked it, but I never knew he/she filmed any other songs too, awesome.

Another one: meeting Kenn outside El Corazón in Seattle. He went "Oh, you're the file repository dude? I used it a lot in order to learn all the songs!".

There aren't many bands out there that treat their fans like Ozma does.

elizabeth

i guess when i was a sophomore in high school or so, i went down to see them at wash u in st louis, and i was such a fan girl.  they were signing stuff, but i didn;t really have any money to buy merch, so i walked up to daniel. brummel. (emphasized for my intense love) with my pink sharpie and asked him to sign my hoodie.  and he did.  and so did the rest of the band, as i wore it.  i was dying.  haha

Not Jason

Oh, here's one I get a kick out of.  Few years back I saw Piebald in Maine.  Incidentally, I was wearing an Ozma shirt, and Aaron commented on it.  We had a conversation for a short while and he says "Star told me that I'd probably meet a really big Ozma fan while I was in Maine."  I think my answer was something like "bullshit."

A while later I was at an Ozma show and Star saw me from a little ways away and comes up to me, saying "I heard you met my boyfriend in Maine!"

It's kind of surreal to think about two of your favorite bands talking about YOU.  Granted, I'm sure they probably made fun of me, but it's still pretty neat.

playing street fighter 2 with jose at some venue behind los gatos high (the outhouse, 2003) left the biggest impression. actually, the whole night was great. it was my first time seeing them. i got DDD signed by all of them. it was incredibly awkward.
