Title: So, I've decided to start a tribute band.
Post by: Power Lloyd on December 16, 2004, 12:32:13 pm
Mostly because I need something to do. I already have a few some people on board (even a chick that plays the keyboard) with this idea. But I can't think of a good name that says "We are an Ozma cover band."

Anyone?

you could go with one of ozma's previous names, like Powercool or something.

xotchi

if i could of remembered how to spell it, this would have been my first suggestion.  it's a great name for such a project.

wasn't it xochitl or sochi for short?

and i'm with jason's idea about ozma's potential names prior to 'ozma'
there was something about an egg...no?

Heh, you guys just about topped them all

Straight from archive.org:
any way you got here, you're one of the few people that knows about my little prank. so you deserve some kind of reward for getting here, right? - wrong. but i'll give you one anyway. to pique your interest, here are a few band names we considered before choosing ozma:

    * "sochi" - - - (see 'xochitl' from if my amp had wheels)
    * "the system"
    * "audiochi" - - - - (almost rhymes with 'mariachi')
    * "cosmic egg"
    * "ritual purple" - - - - (just kidding)
    * "powercool"
    * "sheriff bob"

but that's all you get for now. if i think of anything more secret and embarrassing to stick in here, i will.

I think it should be some take of the wizard of oz.  Like the Emerald city street band... or...the yellow brick road crew.  Just better names than those.

Oz related names...

Service Group was nearly The Young Tin Men. That might do.

Joda Strypa

(JOse, DAn - STar, RYen, PAt)

That's the best I could come up with in 5 minutes using different combinations of the first or first two letters of the first or second names.

Has a Star Wars feel to it.  Other than that it sucks.  Sorry.

On the Borderline might be cool. The former names of the band idea I don't like, for the simple reason it seems like it's reviving what the band discarded. Buuut, that's just my opinion.

How about just Borderline?

Or Cameltoe. No, it doesn't have an Ozma connection. I just really want to see a band named Cameltoe. It would be hee-larious!

Amzo!

I think that's the best one yet.

It's not obvious, but it is, kinda.

It's short and sweet, (contains all of the same letters) and has the same ring to it (I think it's the 'z')

Or maybe 'Azmo'

Kind of on the Azmo line, how about Zima?  I know I had some people misread my shirt to say that.  I'm pretty sure Stef had the same issue too.

how about "Am So"

you know, like the common argument against "are not!"

that way, you could have a reversed ozma logo.

if you need a bassist...im so down.

Comming from the person whose name they used . . . never pronounce it soshi,  because that sounds like  :-X!

And as for my input on the band's name.  There's always the beginning . . .paper or plastic . . . And you could look prepubescent in oversized shirts and ties :)

or how bout Trucks and Cars
