12. Immigration Song

Notes:  Made and distributed in Japan.  It features the bonus track "Immigration Song", which is not listed on the back cover of the CD.  The disc itself contains no art, but rather plain black text on silver with the accurate track listing.  The OBI strip mentions something about their tour with The Get Up Kids and Weezer, though as I do not read Japanese, I'm not sure what.  It also includes the standard book as well as a white folded insert featuring complete lyrics and their Japanese translations.  "Immigration Song" was featured because at the time of this release, Kung Fu Records was uncertain as to whether they would rerelease The Doubble Donkey Disc.  They wanted to get some of the material out there, and presumably it also may have served as market research.

03. Domino Effect (Album Version)

Notes:Ã,  This was the promotional single for Domino Effect that was sent to radio stations.Ã,  It was never comercially available.Ã,  The radio edit shortens the drum breakdown at the intro and fades on the keyboard C drone at the end of the song.  No case or inserts, just a windowed paper sleve.

11. Obsolescensaga - I. 0062 Irata
12. Obsolescensaga - II. Se Gamas Tersy Stem

17. Russia - I. The Balalaika
18. Russia - II. The Communists
19. 38 Minutes on the 38
20. Baseball Stadium Theme
21. Complexion Like Peaches and Cream
22. Them in Defense of Tonal Music
23. Goodnight Sweetheart, It's Time to Go
24. Rudy?!

Notes:Ã,  Commuter Music is/was Daniel and Ryen's improv Casiotone band.Ã,  Songs were recorded improvised and then sped up to double their original speed.Ã,  While mostly (and this is only one man's opinion) crap, there are some gems on here that Ozma fans might find appealing.Ã,  The song "Dominnow School" for example contains early versions of melodies that were resurected for the Ozma songs "Domino Effect" and "Wake Up".Ã,  It's also a lot of fun to listen to if you want to confuse people.Ã,  While a genuine Tornado homeburnt version of this CD is rumored to exist, I have never seen a copy, so I cannot confirm the tracklist or the catalog number.

Daniel Brummel and the Contraband
1999*
Sound Mind
Tornado Records (Tornado 004)
(out of print)

01. In Time
02. Red Roses
03. Accelerated Sunrise
04. Of Sound Mind
05. Martinelli's
06. Accelerated Sunrise (Godkiller Remix by Ezra Buchla)
07. If I Only Had Some Courage
08. Overture to Atoll Life
09. View of the Sea
10. Summer After Senior Year
11. Accelerated Sunrise (Pacific Remix)
12. Bear the Load (Lyrics by Robert Brummel)
13. In the Good Old Summertime
14. In My Life (Lennon / McCartney)
15. I've Got Your Melody Under My Fingers
16. Antfarm
17. Melodicollage #1

Notes:Ã,  This CD, in typical Tornado Recordings fashion, is home burnt on CDRs, labeled in sharpie, with inkjet printer coverart.Ã,  It is rumored that earlier versions of Sound Mind contained shorter tracklists.Ã,  Indeed many of the acoustic type songs near the middle and end are taken directly from his previous solo CD "A Network to Take Care".Ã,  The speculation is that he put the tracks he wanted from that CD onto Sound Mind and stopped selling A Network to Take Care.Ã,  However, this is by far the most common tracklisting.

*While the copyright date listed is 1999, this doesn't really work out with the "Tornado 004" catelog number.Ã,  Since Rock and Roll Part Three was relased new years eve of 1999 numbered "Tornado 003", that would have to place this CD sometime in 2000 at least.Ã,  This confusion may be related to the multiple versioning listed above.Ã,  Subject matter of "Summer After Senior Year" would also seem to place it after Daniel's high school graduation (in 2000).Ã,  My personal copy was obtained in 2002.

Daniel Brummel and the Contraband
1999*
Sound Mind (+Extras)
Tornado Recordings / MP3.com
(out of print)

01. In Time
02. Red Roses
03. Accelerated Sunrise (TPB Remix)
04. Of Sound Mind
05. Martinelli's
06. Accelerated Sunrise (GK Remix)
07. If I Only Had Some Courage
08. Overture to Atoll Life
09. View of the Sea
10. Summer After Senior Year
11. Accelerated Sunrise (Pacific Remix)
12. Bear the Load
13. I've Got Your Melody Under My Fingers
14. Letters
15. Antfarm

Notes:Ã,  This is the version of the CD that was released through MP3.com.Ã,  Like the other MP3.com discs mentioned, it has a professionally printed CDR disc and nice glossy cover art.Ã,  The name "(+Extras) here is a bit of a misnobre, as it only features one bonus track ("Letters") at the expense of three tracks that are not on this version ("In the Good Old Summer Time", "In My Life" "Melodicollage #1").Ã,  Obviously in at least the case of the Beatles song, this probably has something to do with copyright concerns.

*See the entry on "Sound Mind", as it's also applicable here.

The Elected
2004
Me First
Sub Pop (SPCD 636)

01. 7 September 2003
02. Greetings in Braille
03. My Baby's a Dick
04. A Time for Emily
05. Don't Get Your Hopes Up
06. Waves
07. The Miles 'Til Home
08. Go On
09. C'Mon Mom
10. A Response to Greed
11. Don't Blow It
12. British Columbia

Notes:Ã,  On this record, The Elected was Blake Sennett, Mike Bloom and Jason Boesel with Daniel Brummel providing the bass.Ã,  It was recorded in Elliott Smith's old studio.Ã,  Daniel Brummel played a few shows and subsequently left the group.Ã,  There is also an LP version of this album and at least 2 advanced promotional versions that I have no good information on.

Monstro
2003
Ocean Floor Demos
self-released
(out of print)

01. Dear Old Pasadena
02. Swimminghole
03. Needles & Pins
04. Shipbuilder
05. King of California
06. Marcha Funebre
07. Swept Away
08. Needles & Pins
09. Nightengale
10. Sugarbreathing Fish
11. Overjoyed
12. The Bitter Sea
13. Elementary

Notes:Ã,  Monstro was a folk band with a sort of expiremental edge.Ã,  On these recordings it featured Daniel Brummel on guitar and vocals joined by Laura Steinberge on upright bass and Daniels good friend (and complete madman) Ezra Buchla on vocals, viola, mandolin and programming.Ã,  The Ocean Floor Demos was given away at Monstro shows and apparently the tracklist was different on each occaision that they were given out.Ã,  This is a sample tracklist based on my copy (courtesy of Bob and Sarah, thank you very much).Ã,  These came in slimline CD cases with a simple insert on heavy paper and a burnt sharpie-labeled disc (Verbatim 80 Minute).

Yes Dear
2005
Yes Dear
self-released

01. I Don't Give Up
02. Prove It
03. Imaginary Wheels
04. Orion
05. Pictures of Your Bones
06. Give Me the End
07. Alright
08. Surf the Intensity
09. Antidote

Notes:  Yes Dear consists of Ryen and Jose from Ozma along with former Arlo frontman Nate Somethingorother and some other dudes (the line up has been a bit shakey and subject to change, but the band is quite new and seems to be settling in nicely lately, visit www.yesdearmusic.com for more precise info).  Their first CD comes in a white cardboard gatefold sleve stamped with the Yes Dear logo.  The actual disc is a CDR (appears to be a Maxell 80 minute of the colored variety) with a printed sticker label.  This CD comprises all the demos they had completed up to the time of it's release.
