Title: Perfect Tour
Post by: woudrow on January 20, 2006, 12:34:48 pm
The Rentals and Ozma.  They both just reunited it would be friggin sweet. Most people probably like both bands already or would like both. Anyways I'm into it.
Make it happen.

Too much filler.  I'll take a two band show over that any day.  I'd rather see Rentals than Weezer, and I don't really care about seeing either of the other two bands.

It's so true, but even if John and George were alive and the beatles didn't kill each other and were still a band; it would be highly unlikely.

Imagine if the bands covered a song from the other. Which Ozma song would you want to hear the Beatles play?

I don't understand what is so funny about this.  I thought it was a rather interesting question and I'm actually surprised it was worth LOLing about but not answering.  Is it so funny since such a notion is absoutely ridiculous since the Beatles would just be too good to EVER belittle themselves to cover an Ozma song?  (LOL, jk right? no one respond to that, I said it, not you.)

I think it'd be cool to hear a Beatles version of:  "Utsukushii Shibuya"

But even moreso, I think I'd like to hear the Beatles cover Daniel Brummel & The Contraband's "In My Life."

for me..it'd be the rentals...ozma in 2nd and weezer third...i've seen weezer about 6 times, and they've gone downhill since the 2000 outloud tour where i was introduced to Ozma.

I realize the Beatles playing Ozma is ridiculous. I just thought it would be a cool thing to think of, the Beatles were able to play almost any style of music, I'm sure they could  have pulled off an Ozma song. I was actually thinking UtsukushII Shibuya would sound cool too.  Besides its January I'm sure someone will top me by next year, thereââ,¬â,,¢s a lot of absurd people on this forum.

but the special goodness...come on...they put on a decent live show, and a buddy picked up a shirt of theirs for me, but once the album leaked onto that FTTP that was up a few years ago, i was completely turned off. But its okay to wear the shirt -- nobody knows who they are.

Anyway, I didn't intend to suggest that it's a stupid thing to say, but I just thought it was an increadibly funny question for the sheer absurdity of it.  You know, because The Beatles are half-dead now, existed decades prior to ozma, and are generally considered to be a better, more important band (not to start that argument up again mind you).

And my comment was tongue in cheek as well.

By the way, I love Ozma, but I don't think we need to explain to me that a band that put out a discography that dwarfs Ozma in comparision, is still adored 40 years later and has influenced an entire huge genre of music is a more important band.  I did gradumidate college and I moved out from under the rock a few months ago, so...

He recently released a song on his myspace called Watch Me Walk Away that seems to be quite secular.  It's full band and very Superdrag-ish.

Everyone should check it out.

I can't say I'd want Ozma to ever play with Weezer again.  That wouldn't be a good way to kick the "Weezer ripoff" stigma.

I checked out Jon Davis and it sounds pretty Superdragish to me and not at all like Christian rock. I don't know what you guys are talking about, I thought it was good.

edit:
Okay. After paying closer attention to some of the lyrics I can I see what you mean. The music still kicks ass, though. I could still dig this, as long as there is no praying. To quote Hank Hill "You're not making Christianity better, you're just making Rock and Roll worse. "

I believe in seperation of church and rock.

i like the space twins. i liked that song goddess of love, but i lost it somehow. id like to see the rentals and ozma but somehow i doubt they'd make it out to the eastsiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide without someone like weezer with them. maybe im wrong. did anyone see weezer on this last tour. did they have a tour after make believe? was it ok? i still (as in i did five years ago when i saw them last) enjoy weezer live.

i saw them play with foo fighters and they were good..it was a lot more laid back than the first time I saw them.  they had the "guy from the audience gets to play on undone" thing on the tour, and also rivers playing island in the sun acoustic while standing out in the audience.  the foo fighters...now they put on one hell of a show.  they also played Big Me at that show. (weezer did)

I saw Weezer right after The Green Album was released (I think it was one of the first shows they played with Scott Shriner), and although they only played like two Pinkerton songs, it was probably the best sounding show I have ever been to, at least as far as performance and just general sound setup.

Quote from: oatmeal on January 21, 2006, 11:01:33 amI love the space twins, the non "End of Imagining" stuff mostly though.

I couldn't agree more.

p.s., the correct answer was Crowbar/Type O Negative/Fear Factory (in that order)

Opener - Satisfaction
1st Act - Ozma
2nd Act - Ben Kweller (w/ band)

that would kick ass.

Mike was the bassist at that time, Scott didn't jump on board until Maladroit-Era weezer.

i've seen =W= 9 times, I think, and they've only played songs from Pinkerton about 3 or 4 times. Their "reunion show" with the Get Up Kids and Ozma (best show ever) is the most times I've ever seen them play Pinkerton. They played most of the songs off the record, besides Falling For You and No Other One. That was the first time I saw ozma play too.
