Across The Crabs- October 2nd Pinkerton Cover
Maybe if we keep this one on topic Joe will not ban it or me.
I am doing this so we can keep updating information for the upcoming show, and so we can know who is going.
Please don't lock this thread Joe.
Edit: If anyone want's so say something that is somewhat related to this, but not totally on topic( example: idea's for band names if the crabs were to cover the blue album) , just post it on the something something thread.:
http://www.ozmafansforum.com/index.php/topic,2158.0.html
I think that should be ok because, that thread is in the off topic section
Yeah I agree with you guys, but to keep it on subject,
who of you guys are going so far?
Gregor, Brad, Justin, Christine, Ronnie, Brandon (The Ozman), and i?
Is christine starlet?
that's me :)
Is anyone going to record this show?
I only have an mp3 player that records and a tape recorder. I could try the mp3 player but I can't promise decent quality.
i'm on the "right coast, wrong coast" - so i won't be able to make it
I'm actually moving out of California 10 days before the show, so I've given my tickets away.
I'm sorry to not make it out, it's bound to be a glorious time
that really stinks :(
Yeah it does.
So I guess now, from the forum, it's just Justin, Christine, Ronnie, Brandon, and i?
I'll be there! I saw the first Crabs show and it rocked. But, basically I'll take as much of Ozma as I can as much as I can. I wish they'd play proper again.
whoo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSFgrXuy8Us&feature=player_embedded
is anybody going to be taking video of the show. Not necessarily with a video camera, but with a still digital camera that has a movie mode?
If anyone could pause rocking out and record a b-side, falling for you, or no other one, that'd be fantastic.
i'm about to purchase my tickets- and i'm planning on doing will call since i don't want to pay $14 for delivery.
i was just wondering if i need to print out a document to verify my purchase at the box office.
because if i do... my printer doesn't have any ink.
Typically you just need to have the credit card you paid for it with and some form of picture ID or something like that.
thanks. :)
It is finally stated on who the opening bands are going to be. The Knitting Factory Website says that the opening bands are "The Color Turning" & "Argyle Smile"
'i just threw out the love of my dreams' is a pinkerton b-side right?
... wouldn't it be sweet if star guest-sang?
yeah I was thinking about that same thing too. They should do that. I really hope they play "devotion" and "waiting on you" also. Even better they should play "Getting Up and Leaving"
when checking out "argyle smile" soon in the first music video of theirs that I looked at, I saw an ozma sticker on his keyboard. It looks like an ozma sticker anyways
Here is a link to it, it's a pretty enjoyable video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5TqfeSOpb8&feature=player_embedded
Their last song better be "my name is Jonas"
Their last song better be "Pork And Beans"
Ok, who's ready to start another pit*? Ozman? Ronnie? We got to do this.
*it would be a joke to consider it really moshing, really moshing is just plain stupid, and for the record we are not the one's who get drunk and break peoples stuff
there will be some real moshing going on... which is appropriate for pinkerton. (i guess?)
i wish i could be at the middle-front without getting hit in the head. but no... i always have to stand on the side :/
i'm contemplating whether or not i should bring earplugs... hmm...
i will put you down if you mosh near me. be a little courteous and take a look around before you feel like being mischevious.

i wasn't really saying "look out for me, ya bastards" it was more of "be wary and respectful of people who look like they don't want your physicality imposed upon them"
with that said, i'm 5'10, asian, kind of burly, and got longish hair. not sure what i'll be wearing but i am sure i'll recognize some of you guys. pretty stoked!
I possibly may be wearing a shirt that looks like a picnic table cloth. Maybe not. Depends how I feel. but anyways my picture is my icon. I am the transporter. I don't always wear glasses, If I am they are fake.
But yeah, I usually only join with those who want to and try to avoid bump into those who don't. At the last ozma show I went to I was trying to get out of a pit because I suddenly felt dehydrated and dizzy but angry people kept on pushy me back in, and I was just slowly trying to still walk, and get my self out.
lol i'm sure a lot of people will be wearing plaid/ checkered shirts.
should i make cookies for the guys? i'm kind of tempted to... but i don't want them to turn out bad.
dub!
yo, ryen posted a myspace bulletin:
".... Some special guests and some twists as well as plenty of moshing Weez fans."
i'm stoked!
pleeeeeeeeease bring cookies. :) lol

our friend richie might record it since he just bought a camera.. lol..
someone please record the show! please!
I did not imagine justin to be asian...
haha me neither. especially because i base everyone off of their profile pics. for example, i imagine dylan to resemble ricky gervais- but not quite.
anywho! i'll try to record some b-sides. but forgive me if my camera and/or computer gives me some technical difficulties.

absolutely awesome show
by the way they were selling ozma stuff at the show absurdly cheap. i bought the Tornado version of DDD and a small boombox t-shirt for 5 dollars total. jose said they needed to get rid of stuff :(
is ozma ok?

i'll explain later tomorrow in detail because i'm so tired (had a long drive, out of town) but for now just know i talked to daniel brummel after the concert about the status of ozma and they are all on good terms.
and it should be, since 4 of the members of ozma were on stage tonight. now that's a sight for sore eyes, heh

so weird! maybe they need to get rid of the old to bring in the new..? i should've totally bought some merch (esp. since i've misplaced ddd)! i'm sad now.
btw, cesarsalad- who are you? did i see you and not know it??? i was in an obnoxious red sweater- i don't think anyone could've missed me, haha.
i'm also right about half of the crowd wearing plaid shirts :P
any-yay-
that was a very awesome show!
it was weird though; it was shorter than i expected it to be! and it was less
\m/! than i thought it would be- which is odd, because =w= is a more 'I WANT TO GET DRUNK AND ROCK!!!!!' type of band than ozma is (personally).
i had great fun though.
it was awesome to see star and daniel on stage- it actually makes me miss ozma more. and star is so pretty! that lady seriously ages like fine wine.
ugh, they're getting older though... time passing also makes me feel sad.
i passed by the two afterwards at the parking garage. i should've said, 'hey! awesome performance!' but i just felt little and didn't say anything.
it was awesome seeing YOU GUYS (you know who you are). it was weird, but cool. - weird in a way that it was the first time we've met, yet i'm like, 'oh shit. i know you... sort of.'
i'm really sorry i couldn't record a song- right before i left i realized my camera batteries were dead (no!). lo siento. :(
ps. i hope they enjoyed my cookies. because... they took time to make...
i'm thinking i should be a pastry decorator.

i was directly in front of the center of the stage, about 3 people in, wearing a light blue shirt with tiny squares (not really plaid) :P and glasses.

Did anyone record this?
That show was awe-inspiring. I just threw out the love of my dreams was to me, definately the highlight of the evening.
As for Ozma- Jose said that "maybe Ozma will do something agian" Ryen said that hes working on his own stuff and some other bands, DB said that he would like to make another Ozma record (but probably isnt going to happen any time soon) I tried for about a half hour to talk to Star but some ph@gg0t wouldnt stop talking to her and guess what...
PAT WAS THERE! and he was all skinny and stuff... It was kind of weird actually, it was like seeing the old Ozma back together...
And as for another CRABS show, Jose again said MAYBE, Ryen said NO and the other two it doesnt really matter...
After Dan and Star got off the stage it was silent for a couple of seconds and I yelled out "WOO OZMA, FORGET THE CRABS" and the bassist guy heard me and repeated it, I thought that was funny...

that was funny. and 3+ years ago.
okay, back and well rested from the across the crabs concert last night.
if you guys want to see clips (not whole songs) of a couple of songs from concert head to my friend's youtube site (youtube.com/johnny12ockets). please don't give him crap for his videos as we were there to enjoy the concert first, and record second :)
when i talked to daniel after the concert he said he was game with doing ozma related stuff again. i asked him if he was still teaching bass guitar at the CCM and he said yeah, and that he wanted to take down the youtube video because it was stupid (said video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ts5JIzjXtHc) hahaha. We asked if he would do any solo shows and i forget what he said, probably said "maybe". johnny12ockets then told him we'd be find just hearing him play 'i wonder' for 45 minutes :D
in terms of the "is ozma ok?" comment, daniel said everyone is on good terms right now (he's living with star i think?). they just wanted a break because they toured the US some 25 times already that they wanted to just take a break, not necessarily to finish unfinished business, but more like do things they've been meaning to do but couldn't get around to because of ozma being a priority, i.e. start families, record new music, REST. haha. daniel then said he personally had a long enough break to the point where he wouldn't mind starting up ozma again, saying how sad it is that the knitting factory is closing down because that's where they first started playing(probably hinting to the possibility that if they do start playing again, they'd play the knitting factory), but if not that, then the troubador. i then suggested San Diego as an alternate venue as a joke :P
ryen/machatte was nowhere to be found afterwards (where'd you disappear to?). i can't believe i missed Pat if he was there. when I got jose to sign my CD i found out that his favorite song on his solo album is 'shortchanged' and when i asked about the similarity between "actually" and the yes dear song "orion" he said he actually wrote/contributed to the making of that song, so that explains why he used the melody on "actually". random info right there.
and not to get anyone's hopes up, this was just off the record chatter between me and daniel so i guess, don't take anything he says as absolute fact or misconstrue my words. though we can safely assume that everyone's still good friends and still keeping in contact with one another
Son of a bitch. I hate you guys. It sounded great.
it was a good night.. no cookies and no mosh tho 8-(

dude, you guys live in victorville. i don't have a car. visit me and i'll make more cookies!
**edit: i love how ryen didn't have to sing like half of the time.
hahahaha get a bus ticket.
i'll think about it.
okayyyy... is it just me or did the green album tribute audience seem more... what's the word?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvrnYXipwNw
energetic?? fun?? appealing to be with?? yes.
Lame? yes
well, it's pretty obvious (and sales numbers don't like) that green album >> pinkerton ;)
i don't even see anyone jumping up and down in these videos.
pathetic scene kid crowd. the green album show had kids moshing to "i do". wtf pinkerton crowd?!?!?!
hey I was basically moshing with myself. I was jumping like crazy. That seemed to annoy some of the girls by me enough that I was NOT about to start a pit. I was hoping that some drunk people would do that. I had fun anyways. It was a great show. Plus I met some really cool off members, + their friends and talked to Daniel, Ryen, Jose, and Loren from Teaneck.
As in the comparison of shows, the energy of the crowd doesn't change really matter too much, when you consider the band and what they played. Come on the green album show doesn't even compete with pinkerton show.
i agree, the pinkerton show was a lot better. i mean seriously, i think people weren't jumping around because the music was so transcendingly good. besides there were definitely pockets of kids jumping around

Give me free cookies and I will give a you free Radiator when I am delivering in Palmdale during the week. lol. not really. I'm poor. :)
you don't have to give me a free radiator, silly. i already have one. :P
but you're free to pay a visit! i still have leftover cookie dough.
man... those cookies were beautiful (no, really!).
Yeah they were really cool looking, its just so terrible tho that you turned me down from eating one...
dude, i'm really sorry. i actually did mean to bake like 10 for the members and like maybe an extra 5 just in case i saw you guys. but i only ended up making 5 because- damn- they took awhile to make! (the decorating and the icing and coloring- not the dough and the baking haha)
Is your friend on ozmafans? She was really quiet...
no haha- i don't think she's much of an ozma fan but she loves going to shows; i only introduced her to the music early last year.
[but yeah, she's usually quiet and timid at times. but once you (not 'you', personally) get to know her she's really fun and laid back.]
i'm always careful not to stray too off-topic, ever since joe locked the first across the crabs thread. so, :x

how much did the color turning suck , though! it's as if they were totally unaware that they'd be upstaged by the headliner... i really did not appreciate their "they're just a tribute band, guys lol" comments--seriously, who the fuck is braindead enough to try to validate their own (shitty and pretentious) music by bringing down the main act?? what class acts.

i glanced at the lead singer and he wasn't singing/ getting into any of the weezer songs...
i don't know if it's just me but i can't take pretty boy performers (ie. suburban legends, etc.) seriously. i really digged the drummer's beats though.
i liked argyle smile. :)
personally, they should have gone second. :P
Yeah, even though somewhat different Arygle in style Smile did fit the main act much more than the Color Turning.
I when I listened to aryle smile I listened to in in an this is enjoyable and and I can relate to this, perspective. When I listened to the color turning, I ended up focusing with a musicians standpoint. The drummer real was good.

oh, it's not just you! i despise that pretty boy/rockstar mentality. i have the same exact problem with the guy from rooney (although most of it came from seeing how the tween girl audience reacted). i say if you're really that much of a shithead, your music is not worth listening to (at least when it comes to indie pop or rock bands).
i was joking with my friend caleb that the guy kind of looked like david arquette with makeup/facelift... so if you look at color turning as david arquette's joke band, they're not bad. but you'd probably still want to beat the shit out of him.
argyle smile was definitely better. they should've been the only ones to join in on el scorcho + pink triangle.

I on the other hand like some quirky voices
So are you saying that I dont like "quirky" voices?
Well maybe I was generalizing you, my bad, that is a pretty serious accusation. What I wanted to say is that I enjoyed argyle smile including their voices, which made the music more unique and personable.
Thats an odd way to make that exact point.
well I though that I would be more specific, so in reality it's not longer the exact point I mentioned, but it still gives the message I want to geted ACROSS.
did any band member that anyone in attendance talked to mention anything about doing another show in May?
Blue, Maladroit, and Make Believe all came out in May, with Red coming out in June. Seeing as how they are sticking close to the albums actual release date with their concert dates.
If they were to do a blue album show, that gives them all winter to hole up and practice the end to Only In Dreams.
They said there werent gonna be anymore shows
lol no more shows probably cuz you yelled out "forget the crabs, we want ozma!" lol.... i was busting up ronnie
haha when i heard that i was thinking, 'that's gotta be ronnie.'
Well who wouldnt rather see Ozma than, Ozma/teaneck copying Weezer?
